Every May, members of the Friends of the Max Kade Institute gather in a different location in Wisconsin for their annual meeting. These meetings are fun-filled days that include not just the business meeting, but tours of historic places, lectures, and a German-style dinner.

Friends of the Max Kade Institute Annual Meeting 2026
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Saturday, May 2, 2026

We invite you to join us for the 2026 annual meeting of the Friends of the Max Kade Institute, which will be held at Kegel’s Inn in West Allis, just west of Milwaukee. The business meeting will be followed by a luncheon, featuring German dishes, and a presentation on “Milwaukee Brewers in the Post-Prohibition Era.” by Timothy Holian, Lecturer in the Department of World Languages at UW–Whitewater.
Afterwards, we will take a two-part private tour of the Miller Brewery production site and archives. The latter contains fascinating materials spanning the company’s 170-year history since its founding by Frederick Miller (Friedrich Müller), an immigrant from Württemberg. Please note that the brewery part of the tour requires a lot of walking.

12:00 – 12:15      Socializing; Board of Directors Meeting (election of officers)
12:15 –   1:30      Luncheon (choose from a menu on site, incl. vegetarian and gluten free options)
                        —Presentation by Timothy Holian
2:00   –   4:30     Two-part tour of Miller Brewery and Archives: Meeting Point: Molson Coors Corporate Offices, 3939 W Highland Blvd, Milwaukee; parking garage: 4051 W Highland Blvd., entrance on N Miller Hall
