A translation of all matter appearing in this Kalender coming under the act of October 6, 1917, has been filed where it was issued at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nov. 25, 1917, as required by the Act of October 6, 1917. A copy of these translations has been filed on December 10, 1917, for the information of the Postmaster at La Crosse, Wis. ---- "Adolph Candrian (1850 - 1929) was born in Switzerland and emigrated to the U.S. in 1867. He worked first on a German language newspaper in Chicago, and in 1883 he moved to La Crosse, where he bought the German language weekly, Nordstern, editing the paper until his retirement in 1921.
