| Abstract | Texas is a cultural melting pot; however, through prolonged mixing, most ethnic groups have lost their sense of uniqueness and ethnic identity. The German-Texan heritage has been neglected most recently because of the hatred and shame brought about by the propaganda during the two world wars. In those times many Germans sought to conceal their background. The teaching of the German language stopped. Fortunately there are still many signs of German influence in San Antonio. This paper is an examination of the rise and the fall of the German-English School in San Antonio and the influence it had on the total community |
