AbstractThe so-called Wends of Germany are the smallest, or one of the smallest, group of Slavs more or less conscious of forming a separate nationality. The origin of the emigration of a large group of Wends to Texas in 1854 is to be found in a desire for religious freedom. Leading personalities among the Wends of Texas: John Kilian and family.
