AbstractThe Oberlaender Trust stands as the greatest single contribution to American-German cultural relations that has ever been made, and it was active most of the time when political conditions before, during and immediately after the second world war threatened to estrange the United States and Germany for an immeasurable time to come. It was, indirectly, a potent factor for peace between two nations. (Wilbur K. Thomas). This book reviews the activities of the Oberlaender Trust (1931-1953), which was established by Gustav Oberlaender and worked in harmony with the Carl Schurz Memorial Foundation. Appendices include: "List of Grants to Individuals and Institutions..."; "Displaced Scholars. List of Individuals and Institutions Who Received Grants"; "Publications"; "Disbursements in Various Fields"; and "Financial Statement."
