AbstractMy purpose in writing this book was not to present all the facts of Thomas Nast's life up to 1871, but to dramatize some of the facts. Since there is very little material available on the artist's life--especially for the period before 1870-- I have had to invent a few minor incidents.... All the major events of Nast's life described in the book are based upon authentic sources. N.V.
