AbstractWhile contemporary Anglo-Canadian authors either ignored or deprecated "alien" immigrants and championed the persistent hegemony of their own ethnic group, Frederick Philip Grove in his prose writing advocated a more favorable image of other European newcomers to Canada. Himself an immigrant of German descent, he can be considered an early proponent of certain aspects of multiculturalism.
