AbstractThe articles of German-American contributors to the "Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung" before and during the Civil War are investigated. Two periods are discussed: 1828-1848/49 and 1848-49-1865, separating the "Grays" (those who immigrated before the revolution) and the "Greens" (those who immigrated after the revolution).
