AbstractDuring the years 1873-80 some 18,000 mennonites of Dutch-Prussian background left southern Russia for new homes in North America. The approximately 7,000 who chose Canada and settled in the new province of Manitoba included virtually the entire Bergthal Colony, which had been founded near the Sea of Azov in 1836. This book depicts causes and events of the Bergthaler emigration from Russia to Canada in the 1870s.
