AbstractA reader for students of German that presents cultural information on the German-speaking countries within a cross-cultural context. One of the main goals of the text is to foster a global perspective -- to make students more conscious of social and cultural diversity within the U.S., as well as in German-speaking countries. It is designed for advanced beginners and intermediate-level students of German. Basic information on the German-speaking countries is included, as well as themes reflecting situations frequently encountered by Americans traveling in German-speaking areas. A few chapters deal with German attitudes toward American lifestyles and culture.
