AbstractUnter den Kulturwerthen, welche der Deutsche erschaffen, und siegreich auf andere Voelker uebertragen hat, nimmt das deutsche Schulwesen eine hervorragende Stellung ein. Auf allen Gebieten der Wissenschaft dringen bahnbrechend die Leistungen deutscher Denkkraft hindurch, und finden auch im praktischen Leben nuessliche Anwendung.
NotesFaust was born April 20, 1870 in Baltimore, Maryland, and died February 8, 1951, in Ithaca, New York. After attending Scheib's Zion School he studied at Johns Hopkins University, where he received his Ph.D. He taught German at Johns Hopkins, Wesleyan University in Connecticut, the University of Wisconsin, and Cornell University, where he became a full professor. He retired in 1938.
