AbstractAndelson's paper examines the case of the "Community of True Inspiration," coming to upstate New York in 1843; the demographic character of the Inspirationists at the time of their immigration and during the first decades of their existence in America. They adopted the corporate name "Ebenezer Society" and, in search for more land and more isolation from 'worldly ' neighbors, they founded a new settlement around Amana, Iowa, where they have been living ever since.
