Includes "The Visit to the Virgin Forest: A Sketch from My Life on 'Lake de Haas' in Fond du Lac County, Wis.," by Carl de Haas [Translated from an article appearing in "Nordwestlicher Courier," Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in July 1871, volume 1, no. 10], and "Recollections of the Forties," by Rudolph Puchner [Translated from an article in the "New Yorker Staats Zeitung," December 16, 1900].
