AbstractAn examination of the role of Wisconsin's public libraries during World War I, including their dissemination of information about the war, extended services provided, and fund raising for the war. The war is depicted as a positive opportunity for the libraries to increase their clientele and professional authority, as well as a force that led librarians from objectivity and to censorship and xenophobia.
