AbstractA historical narrative covering the migration of Prussian Lutherans to America in 1843 and the settlements they established in Wheatfield, N.Y. It traces the background of the groups of families who came from the German communities near today's northern boundry between Germany and Poland. It records the conditions that influenced thousands of Old Lutherans to emigrate. For almost a decade they had endured acute religious persecutions until 1843, when they uprooted themselves from their homeland to assure religious freedom for their children.
NotesThis book is published to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the 1843 Prussian Lutheran migration to the town of Wheatfield, New York; sponsored by the Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York. ; book, in MadCat.
