AbstractKonrad Krez was once a celebrated German-American poet and social reform leader now forgotten. This monograph examines the Krez Nachlass (posthumous manuscripts) in Landau, yields a biography of the forty-eighter's tumultuous life as refugee and civil war officer including his trial and death sentence in January 1851 and familiarizes us with his neglected poetry. Bibliography includes the previously published collections of Krez.
