AbstractFranklin discusses the "Catholic dimension of the communal revival" in Germany, which he divides into three stages: ecclesiology in the early nineteenth century, monasticism in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and the parish liturgical movement in the middle twentieth century. He then goes on to discuss the liturgical revival in Minnesota, in particular St. John's Abbey, which was shaped by the German reforms.
