AbstractThe purpose of this study was to discover the forces which have served to encourage cooperation and solidarity in a rural community, and, also, to reveal those forces which have served to hinder cooperative effort. The area selected for study was Howard community, located in Centre county. Interviews within the community and historical documents furnished the data used in making interpretations.
