AbstractIn her study Lauren Ann Kattner uses rigid analysis of tax, civil, church and census records, along with maps, letters, family stories and architectural histories. Regional identification influenced a variety of settlement patterns and resultant housing and marital choices among mid-19th century Texas-Germans in Galverston, New Braunfels, Yorktown, and Fredericksburg.
