AbstractBorn in 1830 in the Grand Duchy of Baden, Hespeler migrated to Preston, Canada West in 1850. He returned to Europe in the late 1860s and worked to recruit German immigrants to Canada. He was instrumental in helping German-speaking Mennonites in southern Russia find a new home in Canada.
