AbstractDuring the period 1892 to 1912 about 600 German families from the Hungarian province of the Banat homesteaded in the Stark and Hettinger counties of southwestern North Dakota. Examines the migration from Central Europe to the Banat, the first Banater known to migrate to southwestern North Dakota, and the several waves of immigration that followed. Includes maps.
