AbstractBiographical sketch of Emil Geisler (1828-1910), who "was regionally influential in the Upper Mississippi River Valley as a strong supporter of education, promoter of a powerful myth of ethnicity, and successful businessman." He was born in Lunden in the Duchy of Holstein and migrated to America in 1852, settling in Davenport, Iowa. Includes a poem from Geisler's 1902 collection of poetry.
