AbstractThe interrelationship of German-American brewery magnates and their workers illustrates the complicated evolution process of the Industrial Revolution, from their initial standing as friendly colleagues of a common ethnic background to that of bitter adversaries, separated by a wide gulf of conflicting interests and their respective economic status as haves and have-nots, and finally to a state of relative harmony based on the successful development of trade unions and the need to negotiate on matters of mutual concern.
