The article concerns Charles Fordtran of Industry, Texas, who was born in 1801 in Minden, Westphalia. He first arrived in New York in 1830 and came to Texas in 1831. Discusses the earliest immigration of German-speaking individuals to Texas soil, the Civil War's effects upon the German immigrants, and a general history of the town of Industry. |
