AbstractJohann Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg "was a key participant in one of the most intensely emotional and turbulent periods of this country. He, like his father and brothers, was influential in the development of the Lutheran Church in the early days of its introduction to North America. Much more importantly to the masses, he becaem a genuine hero of the independence movement and the Revolutionary War, and was a prominent figure nationally afterwards."
