AbstractRelates the story of Christoph H. Ficke and his voyage from Germany to America. Begins: "Among the papers left behind by the German pioneer Christoph H. Ficke, which are still in the possession of his son, former Davenport Mayor Charles August Ficke, there are a couple of letters from the years 1851 and 1852." His correspondent was Wilhelm Fischer, in Mecklenburg.
