AbstractAgainst great odds and despite the skepticism of revolutionists in the party, Wisconsin produced a significant Socialist vote in the state's small cities and farming areas between 1916 and 1920. German ethnic background was the primary determinant of Socialist voting patterns in these locales. Moreover, Lutheranism and farm occupations were important secondary factors in explaining radical political behavior.
