AbstractThere's more to using and understanding marriage records than pulling out the names and dates. A knowledge of marriage customs and controls in history as well as demographic trends concerning where, when, and who your ancestors married can help you focus your search more effectively and make the records more meaningful. Then, knowledge about how records were kept and what kind of information they contain can help you extract and utilize all the information in the records.
