AbstractJust two months after the end of World War I, performances of German-language plays scheduled at Milwaukee's Pabst Theater for the benefit of the German actors led to protests from many sides. A resolution passed by the board of directors of the local Rotary Club appeared in the Milwaukee Journal on February 15, and the same day a citizens' mass meeting" was held at the Pfister Hotel." Part I of this article contains excerpts from the minutes of the Pfister Hotel.
