Abstract2007 "marks the bicentennial of the births of two Swiss scientists from Canton Neuschatel who came to America in the 1840s, the natural historian Jean Louis Rodophe Agassiz and the geographer-geologist Arnold Henri Guyot. It is also the bicentennial of the birth of the Harvard classicist Cornelius Conway Felton, who became Agassiz' closest American friend and his brother-in-law, and was the translator of Guyot's first American lectures as well as the instigator of his first book."
