AbstractSt. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Massbach, Jo Daviess County, Illinois, was founded in 1857. Members of the congregation hailed from various areas of Germany, with a predominance from Massbach, Bavaria, and Dettingen, Wuerttemberg. The first marriage of record was in 1859, and German villages of birth are often noted in the marriage registers.
