AbstractAccording to a church record, Friedrich Wilhelm Aufderheide immigrated to America in 1870. . . . He first settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, where his older brother, Adolph, lived, as well as his sisters, Catharine Sophie Friederike, who was married to Bernhard Heinrich Rosenfled, and Sophia Bernhardine, who married Wilhelm Wiethoff later that year. Fred learned the brick-making trade. . .[and] in 1875, he brought this trade with him as he settled in New Ulm, Minnesota. This article describes the search to find the birthplace of Friedrich Aufderheide in Westphalia.
