AbstractReport on the author's research project investigating "the careers of European migrants who had come to the United States in the interwar period as immigrants or as emigres fleeing from National Socialism and who, in one way or another, played influential roles in postwar America's 'Golden Age' of mass consumption -- particularly consumer psychology, market research and product design, highlighting transatlantic differences as well as transfers and entanglements in the emergence of mid-twentieth-century mass consumer culture."
