AbstractReprints excerpts from two letters written by Schurz to a school friend from Germany, Theodore Petrasch. The first letter provides an autobiographical sketch, while the second "reveals the prophetic admiration Schurz had for Lincoln. Both letters were written at a time when Schurz maintained a residence in Watertown but was stationed elsewhere."
