Rattermann was a German-American poet, editor and bibliographer; a collection of letters was discovered and later edited by this same author. Includes bibliographical references. Two newspaper clippings regarding the writing of a biography and the donation of Rattermann's 8000 vol. library to the University of Illinois inside front cover. Handwritten notations of descendants on back flyleaf.
