[In Ward, Bio-Bibliography, 1985: Berghold, Alexander, b. 10-14-1838 in St. Margarethen in Steiermark, d. after 1916. Came to America in 1864 with an Indian missionary. Stud. Cath. theol. in Graz. Completed his studies in St. Paul, Minn. Priest in Belle Plaine until 1868. Visited Europe in 1868, then went to New Ulm, Minn. where, in 1869, he established a Catholic parish which he served for several years.]
