Friedrich Wilhelm (Guilhelmus Clericus) Faerber [Färber] was born July 16, 1841, in Sonneborn near Elberfeld, and died April 18, 1905, in St. Louis. He was ordained a Catholic priest in Paderborn and, in 1865, he went to America to become priest of St. Mary's in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1873, he became editor of Pastoral Blatt, which became an organ for his views on German Catholics within America. He became a national figure advocating for the rights of German-American parishes.
