German American author. Born in 1864 in Lengenfeld, Saxony. Came to Watertown, Wisconsin, in 1881, where he attended Northwestern University. He was a teacher, organist, and a journalist in eight states; editor of Michigan Volksblatt, Detroiter Abendpost, and Die neue Zeit (Chicago). Married to Caecile Bloch Hammerstein, 1868-1947.
