MKI AnnotationGerman-American author. Born January 23, 1865 in Ingweiler, Alsace --- died August 11, 1922 in New York. He attended a Protestant teachers' seminary in Strassburg, and came to New York in 1881 where he gave lectures on German-American writers and ran a women's hat salon. According to Robert Ward's Bio-Bibliography of German-American Writers, Michel founded the first pacifist society in the United States, the Deutsch-Amerikanische Friedensgesellschaft. [The society seems to have been founded by Ernst Richard.]
