NotesCopyright 1908 by Belle Andriessen. Hugo Andriessen, born June 14, 1843 in Langenberg near Duesseldorf, died 1908 in Pittsburgh. Emigrated to America in 1861; owned a pharmacy in Beaver, Pa. As a self-proclaimed agnostic and political radical, a pharmacist and a poet, he contributed to several scientific and philosophical journals as well as many German-American literary publications. On editorial staff of Deutsch-Amerikanische Dichtung in 1888.
