Herman Dreisel immigrated to the US from Germany in 1884. He had until shortly before the 1903 Iroquois Theatre fire been the assistant instructor of physical training at the Normal Practice school in Chicago and a special teacher in Chicago public schools. At the time of the fire he was director of the Turnverein gymnasiums in Chicago. Herman was a graduate of the Milwaukee Normal School of Gymnastics. He and his wife, Clara E. Peinert Dreisel (born 1875), perished in the fire.
