["A well-known muralist in the Detroit area but one for whom little biographical information remains, Albert Stoye and his wife emigrated to New York from Germany in 1892. Eight years later they moved to Detroit, where they settled permanently. In Detroit, Stoye was first employed by the decoration department of the Newcomb-Endicott store, and from 1912, was in business for himself. He had a studio in Highland Park from where he contracted for mural painting and consulted on interior decorating. He did murals for many churches and clubhouses in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, and decorated many of the Rathskelers in Detroit. The final listing for this artist in the Detroit City Directory was 1941, but no death notice or birth dates have been found for him."]
