AbstractThe Kohel family originated in the beautiful Sumave mountain region of southwestern Boehmen, near the historic town of Klattau (=Klatovy) in the present-day Czech Republic. Joseph Kohel was born in 1807 in Kauth. His second marriage, in 1840, was to Ursula Tomayer. The couple immigrated to America in 1856, arriving in New York City in May, eventually settling in Two Creeks, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
