MKI AnnotationMagdalena Otterbach was born April 1851 in Germany. In the 1880 census she was the housekeeper of Msgr. Matthew J. Joerger (1842-1901) in Jefferson County, Wisconsin.
In 1905 she was in Milwaukee, and at some point after moved to Leavenworth, Kansas, where she lived with the family of Msgr. Joerger's brother John.

"The letters were found among documents that my mother, Rosemary (Urban) Loeb had collected from the home of William and Katherine Verhalen's daughter" in Fort Atkinson, Jefferson County, Wisconsin.
ContentsTwo letters written in Kurrent, one dated 20 Nov. 1925 and the other 21 Dec. 1925, both written from Leavenworth, Kansas.
