AbstractIn October of 1777, the Hessian Grenadier Battalions von Minnigerode and von Linsing, and the Fusilier Regiment von Mirbach, supported by Hessian Jäger under Captain Johann von Ewald, attacked Fort Mercer, situated on the New Jersey bank of the Delaware River. The Battle of Red Bank lasted approximately 40 minutes and was a crushing defeat for the atacking forces. This article discusses a 2022 public archaeology project that tood place at Red Bank Battlefield County Park.
