AbstractJohannes Tobler immigrated to America with his family and nearly two hundred Swiss citizens in 1736/37. Tobler established a home in New Windsor, South Carolina, and in 1752, he began publishing the English–language South Carolina and Georgia Almanack. This article examines Tobler’s transnational life, including his almanac, his owning of slaves, and his work as a colonization agent in lands where Native Americans lived.
