Abstract | Gerd Edwin Paul Kaess was born Jan 9, 1947, in Heutingsheim (now Freiberg am Neckar), Germany. He was the son of Paul Ernst Kaess and Dorothea Dorschke. He was baptized Catholic, but confirmed Lutheran. His stepmother was Hildegard Golz. He lived in Heutingsheim until 1965, when he immigrated to the USA. A 'pull' factor for him may have been his Kulhanek cousins, who immigrated to the USA, by way of Venezuela, in 1956. Gerd settled in Chicago and met and married Marie Ellen Dawson in abt 1967. He had two identical twin sons. He worked as a printer. He died from an accidental drug overdose in 1972 in Chicago. |
