AbstractIn 1834, Johann Peter Weidemeyer, a former fusilier in Hessian service, immigrated to America. Johann Peter’s son, Adolph, came to America in 1838. After his arrival in Baltimore, Adolph enlisted in the US Army, serving in Florida during the Second Seminole War. Artifacts include: Johann Peter’s travel trunk, Adolph’s handwritten military service books, a set of daily razors, a wallet, a diary, a marriage license, a family Bible, and penmanship and art sketch books.
