Abstract | Born in Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany. Studied medicine, third-generation doctor. Served in World War I as a combat medic. Married Katharina Wiesbaum, a medical doctor from Munich, who was raised Catholic. Karl and Katharina raised their children in the Catholic faith. The family was able to emigrate from Germany in 1938; they settled in Colorado, where Karl became a prominent neuropathologist. |
