AbstractThis article examines the career of Wisconsin Congressman John Jacob Esch from 1898 to 1920, including his role in the Transportation Act of 1920 (or the Esch-Cummins Act). Esch was born in 1861 to German immigrant parents near Norwalk in Monroe county.
